Never quit on people

God wants you to cut off your past but never quit on your present and future. This applies for your marriage, church, family and career. Never quit on people in your lives until God says so.

In the kingdom of God when things go tough we don’t quit but we absolutely surrender to God. Surrender to God, keep working on that relationship and God will make it happen.

The story of Ruth is a powerful story of Love. Ruth lost her husband in a tragedy. She was left with her mother in law Naomi. One day Naomi said to both her daughter-in-laws Orpha and Ruth,

“Go back, each of you, to your mother’s home. May the Lord show you kindness, as you have shown kindness to your dead husbands and to me. May the Lord grant that each of you will find rest in the home of another husband.”

So Orpha decided to quit and gave up on this relationship.

But Ruth said..

“Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.

This is a statement of absolute surrender. She decided to embrace Naomi and her cultural background and stay with Naomi. In other words Ruth is saying, “I will never quit on you. I will surrender to God and you. God will do something through this relationship.”

Ruth refused to give up. It’s not a surprise that Ruth became the great grand mother of King David and Jesus was born in the same lineage. Ruth entered the genealogy in Matthew. What a privilege! She completely rewrote her painful past because she refused to give up. In fact Ruth corrected the mistake of her great-great-great grand mother. Ruth was a Moabitess and Moab was born due to an illegal relationship between Lot and his daughter. Ruth refused to hold onto those painful history and worked on the present relationship and rewrote her future.

Never give up on relationships in your life until God says so. God will bring out something big if you refuse to quit. You can rewrite your painful past by refusing to give up and working on your present relationships. There are certain circumstances under which you should definitely quit on certain relationships. That is why we should be receptive to God and refuse to quit until He says so.

Orpha made one of the greatest blunder in history by giving up on Naomi. Otherwise she would have got the blessing of being in Jesus lineage. It is so sad that Orpha is a picture of many people in this day and age. People easily give up on relationships when it gets slightly hard. People think that grass is greener on the other side. But the truth is the grass is greener only where you water it.

People get so easily hurt and they are very quick to quit. They quit their marriage, church and job so easily even when it gets slightly difficult.

But God’s love is unfailing. God said in Jeremiah 31,

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”

This means God will never quit on you. He will never stop loving you. God is saying if you want to succeed in your relationships learn from me. Never quit on people. When things go tough, surrender to God.
