Evangelical Lutheran Church of America Elects First Transgender Person as Bishop

The Sierra Pacific Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) has elected a transgender person to serve as bishop of the denomination. This marks the first time a transgender person has been elected to be bishop of the ELCA.
